Enjoy your authentic Maasai Experience
For a truly immersive experience that allows real cultural exchange and helps break down stereotypes, we offer overnight accommodation in an authentic Maasai homestay at Lake Natron. Our Homestay is located in the immediate surroundings of several traditional Maasai bomas, offering guests the opportunity to experience everyday life in the local community. While the guest houses are not situated inside a traditional family boma, they are just a short distance away, surrounded by the landscape and daily rhythms of Maasai life. From here, you'll also enjoy beautiful views of Ol Doinyo Lengai, the sacred mountain of the Maasai.
A traditional Maasai boma consists of several small houses built from natural materials, typically arranged in a circle around a central enclosure where livestock are kept at night. These family compounds are an important part of Maasai community life.
Our guest houses are simply furnished but offer comfortable beds and basic amenities. We look forward to welcoming you and giving you the opportunity to experience the culture, traditions and everyday life of the Maasai community.
A stay in our boma can be easily combined with a longer safari, for example through the Tarangire National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater, the Serengeti National Park and of course with numerous activities at Lake Natron itself. The journey from Arusha to Engare Sero takes approximately 4.5–6 hours, depending on weather and road conditions, as well as how many photo stops you'd like to make along the way. :)

Breakfast and a traditional Ugali-dinner are not included but can be ordered separately.
Individual activities (hikes, culture tours, workshops etc.) can be booked additionally. Please contact us prior to your arrival to plan these activities.

The price of appr. 200 $* is per person and includes two nights in our homestay.
*Depending on the final itinerary and daily activities, additional meals such as breakfasts, lunches or picnic meals may be added to the package. The listed price is based on guests arranging their own transportation to and around Lake Natron. Private transfers, vehicle and driver services can be organized upon request at additional cost. Please note that local or seasonal conditions (e.g. extreme weather situations, changing food prices or general supply conditions in remote areas) may occasionally influence the final pricing of the experience.
